Path

Path is an iPhone app I built for teen girls: one two-minute faith mission a day.

You pick a path for what's on your mind, and each day's level walks you through a real-life moment, a Bible truth, a question and a small challenge, then pays out XP and keeps your streak.

I built it in two days and put it on TestFlight, and a week later it became the base for Faith Garden.

Every day has one small mission

Path started from one question: what would a daily faith habit look like if it were built like the apps teens already open every day? The answer was short and game-like. Path opens on today's mission. Tap Begin and the level plays like a short story, and finishing it pays 50 XP, a bump to your streak and a burst of confetti. A level takes about two minutes, short enough to do every day.

I built it in SwiftUI in two days and shipped it to TestFlight, Apple's beta-testing service, so people could install it on their phones.

Using it

From sign-up to a streak you keep with friends.

  1. Two Path screens: the 'What's on your mind?' picker with Anxiety, Identity, Friendships and Purpose, Identity selected, and the Anxiety path map with two levels checked, level 3 current and level 4 locked.

    Step 1: Choose a path

When you sign up, Path asks 'What's on your mind?' and offers four paths: Anxiety, Identity, Friendships and Purpose, each 15 levels long, starting with titles like 'The 3 AM Brain' and 'The What-If Spiral.' The path map shows which levels are done, which one is today's and which are still locked.

  2. Three Path lesson pages: a truth page quoting 1 Peter 5:7, a reflect page asking 'How often do you feel anxious but hide it?' with 4 picked on a 1-to-5 scale, and a challenge to send one honest text to a friend, with a photo option.

    Step 2: Play a level

Each level has five pages. The hook describes a moment, like scrolling past everyone looking fine while you carry a knot in your stomach. The truth page answers it with a short reflection and a verse. Then comes an interaction, from a tap choice or a 1-to-5 scale to a written reflection, and a challenge asks for one small real-world step, with an optional photo for your journey wall.

  3. Three Path screens: a profile with 250 XP, a five-day streak and progress on four paths, a badge grid with two badges earned, and a friends list with a request and two friends' streaks. Sample data.

Step 3: Keep it going with friends

The profile shows total XP, the current streak and progress on every path, plus badges from First Step and Week Warrior up to 100 Days. Friends can walk a path together, and the friends list shows each friend's streak, so keeping up becomes something you do with people.

A week later, Path became Faith Garden

Path set the lesson format. What it lacked was a reason to come back that you could see. A week after TestFlight I rebuilt it as Faith Garden, where every lesson grows a garden, under the same App Store identity, so Faith Garden is Path's next version rather than a separate app.
